Bikita tin and tantalite plant holds 200 TPH through the wet season

NECTAR Resources (Pvt) Ltd confirms that its tin and tantalite processing plant in Bikita, Masvingo Province, sustained its 200 tonne-per-hour design throughput across the 2025/26 rainy season — the first full wet season the circuit has operated through since commissioning.

Wet-season operation is the harder test for a gravity circuit. Higher moisture in the feed affects crushing behaviour and screening efficiency, and site access for delivery and maintenance is constrained for weeks at a time. Plants that meet nameplate in dry conditions frequently do not hold it through the rains.

The circuit was designed, built, commissioned and is operated by NECTAR's own engineering team — the same team retained through the ramp-up period rather than released at handover.

"Nameplate throughput on a commissioning report and sustained throughput across a wet season are different claims," the engineering desk said. "The second one is the only one worth quoting to a client, because it is the one that survives contact with an operating year."

The Bikita plant anchors the Engineering & Mining division's turnkey offering, which covers prospecting and licensing, bankable feasibility studies, circuit design and civil works, wet commissioning, certified operator training, and either continued operation or handover to a trained owner team.
