So, What Exactly Is NECTAR Resources?

Four divisions. One group. If you've ever wondered how mining equipment, study visas, business consulting and prime beef end up under the same roof — this one's for you.

So, What Exactly Is NECTAR Resources?

We get this question a lot. Usually it comes with a slightly puzzled look.

Someone meets us at a mine site in the Midlands, then bumps into us again at an education fair in Harare, and the third time they see our name it's on a butchery counter. At that point they normally ask some version of: "Hang on — are you the same NECTAR?"

Yes. Same NECTAR.

So let's use this first post to properly introduce ourselves, explain what we actually do, and — more importantly — explain why four quite different businesses sit under one roof.

We started with a fairly simple observation

Zimbabwean businesses and families rarely have one clean problem.

A mining contractor doesn't just need equipment. He needs the equipment, someone to service it, a company structure that keeps him compliant, and — three years later — help getting his daughter into a university abroad.

A farmer doesn't just need a market for his cattle. He needs consistent offtake, fair pricing, and a business that actually pays on time.

Most of the time, these needs get scattered across five different service providers who don't talk to each other, don't share standards, and don't particularly care whether the other four did a decent job.

We thought that was worth fixing. Not by becoming a jack-of-all-trades, but by building four serious businesses that happen to share a name, a set of standards, and a phone number you can actually call.

That's the whole idea behind the divisional index you'll see across our site — N–01 through N–04. Four distinct operations. One accountable group.

N–01 — Engineering & Mining

This is where a lot of people first meet us.

We supply, support and service the mining and industrial sector: equipment, spares, consumables, and the engineering support that keeps them running. Zimbabwe's mining sector doesn't have the luxury of long downtime — a stalled plant is money leaving the ground every hour it isn't moving.

So our approach here is unglamorous and deliberate: get the right specification the first time, get it delivered, and be reachable when something goes wrong at 4am on a Sunday. That last part matters more than any brochure.

N–02 — Study & Travel

Different world entirely, same principle.

We help students and families navigate studying abroad — institution selection, applications, documentation, visas, and the travel logistics that follow. It is one of the most emotionally loaded decisions a Zimbabwean family makes, and it's an area where bad advice is expensive and slow to reveal itself.

We're honest with families about what's realistic, what a programme actually costs once you add everything up, and what the outcomes tend to look like. Sometimes that means telling someone their first-choice plan doesn't add up. We'd rather have that conversation early than watch a family lose money to a "consultant" who told them what they wanted to hear.

N–03 — Business Solutions

Every business we deal with in N–01 and N–02 eventually needs the same things: a properly structured company, compliance that holds up under scrutiny, and advice from someone who understands the local regulatory environment rather than a template downloaded from somewhere else.

So we built that capability properly rather than referring it out. Business Solutions handles the structuring, compliance and advisory side — for our own clients and for businesses that come to us for that alone.

N–04 — Prime Butcheries & Farm

And then there's the one that makes people smile.

Prime Butcheries & Farm is our agriculture and retail meat operation — farm through to counter. Beef, quality, consistency, and a supply chain we control rather than hope about.

Why does a group that sells mining equipment also sell steak? Honestly: because it's a good business, we know how to run it, and food is the one sector that doesn't wait for a commodity cycle to recover. Diversification isn't a buzzword for us. In Zimbabwe, it's a survival strategy that's been proven repeatedly.

What ties it together

Not the sectors. Obviously.

What ties it together is a fairly stubborn set of commitments:

  • We answer. Calls, emails, WhatsApps. If we can't help, we say so quickly rather than going quiet.
  • We quote honestly. Including the parts of the cost people usually discover later.
  • We stay after the sale. The equipment, the student, the compliance file, the order — none of it ends at the invoice.
  • We're local, and we intend to stay local. Our people are here. Our reputation is here. That's a useful kind of accountability.

You don't have to take that on faith. Try one division and judge us on it. That's how most of our clients ended up using two or three.

What's coming on this blog

We'd rather this space be useful than promotional. Expect things like:

  • Practical guidance on sourcing and maintaining mining and industrial equipment in Zimbabwe
  • Straight answers on studying abroad — costs, timelines, visa realities, and common mistakes
  • Compliance and company-structuring explainers, minus the jargon
  • Notes from the farm and the butchery, including what actually drives beef quality and pricing

If there's something you'd like us to write about, tell us. We read the messages.

Get in touch. Whichever division you need, one conversation is enough to point you in the right direction — and if the answer is "that's not us, but here's who you should call," we'll tell you that too.
